Ticket Sales - Terms and Conditions

By booking a ticket with YMCA Theatre, you agree to the following:

1. Checking Your Order

  • Please check your tickets, change, and order details carefully at the time of booking. Mistakes cannot be rectified afterwards.

  • For telephone bookings, staff will confirm the date, time, and ticket type before the call ends.

2. Booking Fees and Levies

  • An 6.5% booking fee applies to all online bookings.

  • A £1.50 per ticket Renovation and Education Levy applies to all tickets, except complimentary tickets.

3. Payment

  • Payment is accepted in cash or by card.

  • Tickets may be posted for a non-refundable fee of £1.50.

4. Refunds and Exchanges

  • Tickets cannot be refunded or exchanged unless:

    • A performance is cancelled

    • A performance date or time is changed by more than 3 hours

    • The event’s content changes significantly

  • If you are unable to attend, we cannot offer a refund, but you may pass your ticket on to someone else.

5. Seat Allocation

  • YMCA staff reserve the right to move customers to alternative seats of the same or higher value for operational or safety reasons.

6. External Hirers

  • For some events, the theatre is hired by external organisers. In such cases, ticket income is retained by the organiser and the Renovation and Education Levy is one of the only guaranteed contributions to YMCA Theatre from each ticket sold.

7. Lost or Damaged Tickets

  • YMCA Theatre is not responsible for lost, stolen, damaged, or destroyed tickets. Replacement is at our discretion and may incur an administration fee.

8. Resale of Tickets

  • Tickets must not be resold for profit or commercial gain. Tickets found to have been resold in this way may be cancelled without refund and the ticket holder refused entry.

9. Latecomers

  • Latecomers may be asked to wait until a suitable break in the performance before being admitted, and in some cases may be refused entry. No refunds will be given for missed parts of a performance due to late arrival.

10. Changes to Programme or Cast

  • Advertised performers, productions, or programme content may be subject to change at short notice without liability, provided the overall event remains substantially the same.

11. Ticket Limits

  • YMCA Theatre may impose a maximum number of tickets per customer for certain events to prevent unfair booking practices.

Attending YMCA Theatre, Terms and Conditions

By attending an event at YMCA Theatre, you agree to the following:

1. Right of Refusal

  • Management reserves the right to refuse entry or ask you to leave without refund if you:

    • Pose a risk to the safety or enjoyment of others

    • Cannot prove your age for an age-restricted performance

    • Are dressed inappropriately for a family environment

2. Valid Tickets

  • A valid ticket is required for entry. You must present it when requested by staff.

  • We reserve the right to carry out bag or security checks before entry.

3. Recording and Photography

  • Photography, video, or audio recording is not permitted unless explicitly allowed by the event organiser.

  • You may be filmed or recorded as part of the audience, and your image may be used for event or venue promotion.

4. Alcohol and Refreshments

  • A Challenge 21 policy applies for alcohol sales.

  • Glass bottles and glasses are not permitted in the auditorium – drinks must be in plastic cups provided by the bar.

  • Only ticket holders may purchase drinks from the bar.

  • Alcohol service may be refused or suspended at any time at management’s discretion.

5. Smoking

  • Smoking and the use of e-cigarettes are not permitted anywhere inside the building.

6. Special Effects

  • Some performances may use smoke, strobe lighting, pyrotechnics, or other effects. Please inform staff if you may be affected.

7. Event Content

  • YMCA Theatre is not responsible for the content of externally produced shows. For queries about content, please contact the event organiser directly – staff can provide their contact details.

8. Children and Babes-in-Arms

  • All children, regardless of age, must have a valid ticket unless stated otherwise.

  • Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Children under 18 months may attend seated on an adult’s lap free of charge unless the event is deemed unsuitable for children.

9. Adverse Weather

  • Performances will go ahead in all weather unless deemed unsafe by YMCA Theatre. No refunds will be given if a performance goes ahead but you choose not to attend due to weather conditions.

10. Prohibited Items

  • Weapons, illegal substances, and any item that could be considered dangerous are not permitted in the venue. Any such items will be confiscated and the holder may be refused entry.

11. Disruption

  • Audience members causing disruption (including the use of mobile phones during performances) may be asked to leave without refund.
