Supplementing our amazing live entertainment, YMCA Theatre is now offering a Cinematic offering. Showing films that are a mixture of post-theatrical release, accessible screenings and family friendly events

Film showing have the following standard pricing, please note that some films may have different pricing which can be found in the listings

Standard Price

All Seats: £6

CEA Accepted (One free seat per paying person who needs support)

Free tickets for staff of recognised groups bring a group to the screening

Blue light discount does not apply to film events

What do the symbols mean?

Film Classifications

Films in the UK are rated by the British Board of Film Classification and when a film is rated so that an age restriction applies, we are required to ensure our audiences comply with those rules.

We reserve the right to deny entry to people we believe are younger than the films rating.

U - Universal

Content is suitable for any one of any age but Content may not be aimed at Children

PG - Parental Guidance

PG Content is suitable for general viewing but some scenes may upset younger children

12/12A - Suitable for 12 year olds and over only

12 or 12A content is generally not suitable for persons under 12 years old 

A 12 is given to video content, were a 12A is given to Cinematic releases.

As the YMCA Theatre is showing releases outside of the theatrical release window, we may show videos with a 12 rating.

Children who are under 12 are required to be accompanied by an adult.

15 - Suitable for 15 year olds and over only

No one younger than 15 may see a 15-rated content

18 - Suitable for 18 year olds and over only

No one younger than 18 may see a 18-rated content

Accessible Screenings

Details of accessible screenings 

AF - Autism Friendly Screening

During these screenings the following happens to make the experience as open as possible:

  • You don’t need to book a specific seat and you are able to walk around the theatre during the film
  • The sound level will be quieter
  • The house lights will be left on low so it won’t get dark
  • You can bring your own food and drink
  • You can make noise during the film

AD - Audio Described

These films include a pre-recorded commentary describing the action on the screen.

These screening could be a special screening with Audio Description given through the speakers or could be through special headphones

DF - Dementia Friendly

During these screenings the following happens to make the experience as open as possible:

  • The sound level will be quieter
  • The house lights will be left on low so it won’t get dark
  • You can bring your own food and drink
  • The coffee bar is open after the screening for teas & coffees
  • There is a reduced number of seats sold to allow for more space

ST - Subtitled

During these screenings captions are displayed at the bottom of the screen in the language of the film
